    With respect to whether stocks are still running in the predrill period, I invite you to examine the recent charts of NXS, VOY and STX, and could include a few others. There is a pretty clear picture there. Some stocks perform better then others in this period, will leave that to you to ponder why, but can advise you that recent Cooper Basin stocks have been disappointing in this area. It has something to do with drill target size and other factors.

    As you say there are many ways to invest and many oil stocks have gone well for other reasons outside of drill action and long term holders have also done well. The questions traders and investors have to ask is whether what they are doing is sustainable in the long term with respect to profit generation. Even a monkey with darts can make money in this market. So can they keep finding the next NXS ad infinitum?

    To suggest predrill action is not occurring in the current market is an error of observation on your behalf. You are just looking in the wrong spot. It does not happen with every oilspec.
