For the last two years it has been a commonly held assumption that the Australian junior gold sector is ripe for consolidation, particularly in its spiritual home of Western Australia's Eastern Goldfields. Like any mature mining district, the Eastern Goldfields is home to a proliferation of old mills, old mines and old infrastructure, abandoned, forgotten or ignored following previous waves of mergers and acquisitions.
