Be careful what you wish for. I am an AVO holder and I was an RMS holder until today. I don't think the RMS offer is a good deal for either RMS or DIO holders. That is one of the reasons I have sold out of RMS. The other is that I am concerned with the fact there are no JORC reserves for RMS and the corresponding JORC resource is tiny. I think the RMS SP is likely to come under downward pressure soon as I believe RMS is possibly overvalued now. By example, the new RMS high grade drill results hardly caused a blip on the radar in the last two days. That is because the market is not sure they can extract the gold economically plus there is uncertainty about how much is actually there.
Basically I agree with everything said in the AVO statement. It enabled me to crystallise my concerns about RMS in my own mind. So I sold. The RMS offer may look superior on paper but if you dig deeper you'll find that the RMS value proposition is based mostly on hope and faith. On the other hand AVO have a comprehensive 8 year plan to maintain a 160,000 to 200,000 oz per annum production rate. Plus they have far superior management, IMHO.
Anyway, Mr Market will decide. Good luck to all.
