Operations
Aviva's mission is to generate shareholder wealth through share price appreciation.
Aviva's directors have determined that the best way to achieve this mission is to develop or acquire projects within the small to medium end of the bulk commodities resources sector.
The primary target market remains the burgeoning infrastructure requirements in the Asia and North Asia region.
Central West Coal Aviva Corporation Ltd has commenced a pre-feasibility study (PFS) into an Ironmaking and Cogeneration facility based on the Central West coal deposit.
The PFS began with a drilling program to recover sufficient coal to perform a wide range of coal quality tests and prepare a coal sample to include in Midrex testwork as part of the Ironmaking PFS Link to announcement on 21 July 2005. All aspects of the PFS are to be undertaken by consultants appointed by Aviva Link to announcement of 18 October 2005.
Aviva's proposal is for a project output of 2 million tonnes of iron and 200MW of power.
The PFS will investigate the initial 0.5Mtpa Ironmaking unit, 50MW of Cogeneration and 600,000tpa of Coal production.
The first phase of the PFS – the coal testwork program - has been completed on samples recovered from the feasibility drill program completed in August. Proximate Analysis results on the raw samples confirmed the company ' s estimates of coal quality based on historical drill programs. Aviva Confirms Central West Coal Quality .
Aviva will continue to advance the PFS studies with a view to completing the PFS in the first quarter of 2006 and a decision to proceed to a definitive feasibility study to be made at that point.
The PFS is designed to build on the work completed in the Scoping study ( Result of Central West Coal Mine Scoping Study and Statement of Coal Resources - Central West Coal ), which showed that the resource is an attractive option for both power generation and direct reduced iron applications.
Aviva secured the rights to a significant coal deposit at Eneabba in WA's Mid West Region ( Aviva Secures Major Coal Resource ) in early 2004.
Other Opportunities In addition to the Central West Coal deposit Aviva continues to pursue other opportunities aimed at realising Aviva's mission
