MKR, AOG are essentially into retirement living (ILU's and SA's) and not so much aged care - although their business model is going to take them there via the 'in vogue' methodology of combining ILU's with aged care beds, a la the newly opened Newstead in Brisbane.

But right now they have just 406 aged care beds with an additional 561 in the development pipeline. A drop in the bucket compared to Regis and Japara...not to mention the NFP's...particularly the church based entities. I cannot find the individual bed numbers for LLC or SGP, but the NZ based retirement companies (operating on the DMF model) have many more aged care beds than AOG. Ryman have 3,367 beds, Arvida 1743 and Summerset soem 858.

Sure AOG will cop some of the 'spray' and found somewhat guilty by default. The media, particularly the ABC and Fairfax hate AOG, and their bias clearly shows. I mean, even today, they cannot comment on AOG without mention of the "poo jogger" who was an AOG executive. It's been well over 6 months since he was dismissed and what relevance does it have to AOG other than been a good lead-in story. Take their comment about Geoff Grady likely to cop flak at the AGM..and their comment "he may need to be a fast runner to avoid the shareholder wrath, but he knows who to call on for that".

We might have a democratic right to a free press...but we're also entitled to far better quality reporting than the chardonnay swilling 'greenies' at the ABC and the boofheads at Fairfax.
