Not really 5 years too late -- many of us have been discussing this for much longer than that.
As to Thailand - yes -- that's fine if the wheels stay on -------- will they???????? I wish you luck.
I thought it could have gone very pear shaped there when the King's sister only a few weeks ago decided to run for office -- luckily for all expats - the King stepped in and she backed down.
The only security IMO there is in Thailand is that the yanks have a lot invested in there - without that - well, put it this way - if they left - I would leave as well.
