Currently being tendered. Bid Tender response expected at the end of March 2017
Down select due in August 2017 and then contract awarded in 2017
Start construction in 2018
Future frigate
Down select to one bidder expected in early 2018 and construction expected to start in 2020.
Government tight lipped on this one. Contract was bought forward two years due to political concerns ie jobs in SA. The timing was criticized for being to soon and to tight for adequate design process. It wouldn't surprise me if timing varied.
Different companies jockeying for this one with at least one sending out their frigate to SA for a show and tell.
