    Although most holders would have seen this comming I thought I'd post this anyway. (Oh how I so miss my emitch).

    "THE good news is many of us are watching less television; the bad news is we are still addicted to the screen.

    Research released yesterday by Nielsen Online shows an exodus last year of Australians from the TV to the PC.

    On average, internet users spent 13.7 hours a week online and TV viewers spent 13.3 hours in front of the box. This compares with 12.5 hours a week online and 13.8 hours watching TV in 2006.

    "The gap (between online and TV usage) itself isn't that large - less than half an hour a week," said Tony Marlow, Nielsen Online's Asia-Pacific associate research director.

    "But it's very significant in that it's bucked the trend we have seen in the past."

    Previously, use of TV, internet, print and radio had all been growing as people increasingly used more than one medium at once. Among internet users, 58 per cent said they had watched TV while online and 48 per cent said they had listened to the radio."

    It stengthens my belief that internet advertising will continue to take larger and larger slices from the advertising pie, faster than expected, and possibly quicker in any downturn.
