Carbon credits, the desire to be green and clean, the predicted food shortage worldwide, the "populate the rural areas" are all issues which governments must address these days.
Surely the MIS industry (forestry in particular) assists hugely in these aims.
And hey, the new tax brackets, higher interest rates on loans and a lack of BIG bonuses in 08/09 will see to it that MIS tax effective investments will have a much slower year.
Besides Labor are still smarting over the Paul Keating debacle of removing the deductibility of losses on rental properties in the early nineties.
And one final point: Remember the Labor credo: Do nothing and then they can't blame you for anything!
Rudd and co might make some noises and Garratt might do some of his weird gyrations...but it will be all P and W.
