The world's oil fields are depleting at 6.7% per annum. The Majors know that and must increase their energy reserves. If the world's energy consumption increases again....and I am sure it will, then alternative energy sources will be required.
That is one of the reasons that the majors focussed on Australian CSG. Another major reason was political stability and proximity to the fast growing Asian market.
