All this will change when (not if) the lights go out. Coal is NOT dirty, the improper use of coal causes pollution. There are many efficient clean coal burning technologies available, they produce the cheapest and most efficient power yet the uninformed in and out of govt. seek to condemn ALL aspects of coal (and any other form of organic and inorganic ) usage.
Check this out..........the uninformed don't appreciate the negligible "pollution" that is man made. ONE volcano such as listed below spewed out more "pollution" in one day than man made "pollution" in the entire industrial revolution. The disbelievers should check out the results of the Krakatoa eruption.
The 1991 eruption of Mt. Pinatubo is thought to have injected more than 250 megatons of gas into the upper atmosphere on a single day. However, even if magma never reaches the surface, gases can often escape continuously into the atmosphere from the soil, volcanic vents, fumaroles, and hydrothermal systems.
By far the most abundant volcanic gas is water vapor, which is harmless. However, significant amounts of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen halides can also be emitted from volcanoes. Depending on their concentrations, these gases are all potentially hazardous to people, animals, agriculture, and property.
Abundant and affordable energy gives us the civilisation and prosperity we enjoy today, however as the lights grow dimmer the Greens and their ilk grow ever more strident in their opposition.
