Gents, re grant funding dont forget there are numerous sources of grant funding for a wide range of areas including renewable energy technologies and ARENA is just one such source. Each grant from the many available has its eligibility criteria and its a matter of finding grants for which you can put together a grant that best matches the criteria.

Chill, I agree with you - I too would be absolutely gobsmacked for government grant money to be available preferntially to support non-viable technologies - it would be a ridiculous waste of taxpayers money. The line BC quote prima facie does appear to support that implication but I think its always best to read the criteria in full so that the line is not taken out of context.

Re SHE appyling for grant money you would think it obvious a company in their position would look at what is available and apply for what is most relevant. But then again the company I previously worked for invested heavily in R&D and innovation and funded it all from cashflow and was terrible at pursuing grant money - because the relevant managers just werent that smart and/or incentivised (criminal negligence imo but the company made money in spite of itself so my guess was they just felt it wasnt worth the effort/paperwork). I would be very surprised though that if SHE hasnt already then certainly Sean Moore would have pursued whatever funding was available before SHE picked up the technology - my understanding of the Protean history is he spent several years essentially developing the technology on his own - you cant survive a tech start-up development phase for that long without getting good at finding funding to support your endeavours - and he strikes me as a pretty cluey guy judging from the deal he's secured with SHE.

But its worth asking the question at the AGM imo so you can get a picture of their policy on grant funding, so you can satisfy yourself they doing their best to make most effective use of shareholder funds by saving those for commercialising/marketing/getting sales (and not managing working capital poorly like the company I used to work for).

    Cheers, Sharks
