brob... I received a phone call from a chap to alert me to your post and to ask me what I thought of your comments (he knows I don't follow the CQT thread here anymore)...
although I don't necessarily agree or disagree with the numbers you present, your conclusion strikes a chord within me: "If CQT needs to be sold normal market forces need to prevail not some dirty little back room deal." - although your language is maybe a touch harsh, the deal does seem to have a certain odor to it!!!
you also say: "the pity is that the CQT board seemed to have had their collective blinkers on" - I thought only horses wore blinkers - does it extend outside the equine family?
I also see a few others have voiced some negativity to this deal...
victorious was pretty clear when he said: "It is a TERRIBLE merger." I normally try to disagree with Vic, but here he seems to be mostly right - it may not be completely terrible Vic, but it certainly isn't as good as it is being portrayed!!!
ducky1 is also pretty clear: "what a joke!" - I imagine many don't see the funny side of this joke, but clearly some are laughing... all the way to the bank perhaps?
magpie also squawked: "You have got to be crazy to accept this deal" - to continue the aviarian theme magpie, I think you'd have to be cuckoo to think this non-obligate brood parasitism is acceptable!!! (you den dwellers might need to reach for your dictionaries!)...
ultimately, I feel that it is very sad that CQT's true potential (i.e. Mt Carlton) and the opportunity to partake in that potential is being 69% squandered in this contrived merger deal... (especially when that very potential is being used to promote the merger!)
oh well, c'est la vie, good luck all and enjoy the rights issue... although it is good to see that most of NCM's overhanging rights are going to be taken up... I wonder how much NCM sold the rights for, because I imagine they didn't give them away for nothing? That piece of information does not seem to have been mentioned anywhere...
cheers... marwoode p.s. btw brob - I'm glad your IP address is substantially different to mine!
