Council to host coal information day


Mid-Western Regional Council will hold a Cobbora Mine and Coal Train information day on Wednesday, May 26, to provide the community with information about the proposed Cobbora coal mine.

The meeting will be chaired by former NSW Member of Parliament, Garry West.

Mid-Western Regional Council general manager Warwick Bennett said the meeting is expected to discuss community concerns including infrastructure needs if the coal is shipped by rails through Mudgee, Rylstone and Kandos.

Environmental issues related to the projected water needs of the Cobbora Coal mine are also expected to be discussed.

The forum will run from 6pm to 9pm at Club Mudgee, on the corner of Perry and Mortimer Streets.
