I don’t see a problem with it if it is a one off and a mark of respect.
I have always been of the view that the more we share and celebrate our traditions, the better we are off as a nation.
The left thinks that being perpetually offended by sharing, celebrating our customs and cultural appropriation are evil and racist. I see it as dividing us into groups and allowing for resentment of each other. I think celebrating the Chinese New Year, Hindu , Aboriginal traditions, Ramadan & celebrating Xmas etc is the best form of social cohesion. I despise this “cultural appropriation” Bs and the perpetually offended by our (and all) traditions.
i have zero issues with a call to prayer as a mark of respect. I would also love to see Muslim schools and every school celebrate or acknowledge Easter and Xmas and public schools celebrate other traditions eg fast for a day in recognition of Muslims OR celebrate the Chinese New Year etc. That’s why I support Australia Day, the anthem and especially promoting Xmas.
I fail to see how separating us, teaching us to be offended by each other’s tradiltions makes us a unified, cohesive society. The leftists have it totally wrong and some of the right need to drop their guard a bit too.
