They call it regression to the mean, whereby humans as a group if they are not careful have a default low position as an evolutionary place, higher behaviour is in effect a forced place, unnatural and takes constant deliberate effort to maintain.
We are seeing the Dems on face value abandon this effort and sadly there is zero effort required to regress back toward the mean....they do it all the time on collectivist based issues but as a large ideological grouping it is unusual.....they know that instead of a regression back to medieval times which is more or less their median place of the lefts psychology the non collectivist right because of their higher human ethos will support them regardless.
