Well, my views on VHY are on public record I don't like their approach, particularly in markets like this. Probably fine when the sun is shining and divs growing, but less than ideal when it rains and divs being cut. Example, VHY currently holds SGH. Oops. But's that's the result of their rules based approach which applies no sustainability or quality screen. VHY underperformed the ASX200 by 6.6% in 2015. But's that's the outcome. You could perhaps argue it will bounce harder in an upturn.

AEG - well I have a big allocation to the unlisted managed fund for this. That's how much I like the manager's MN strategy. But as far as the LIC version goes, I wonder about buying the options when they come on stream in a few months time? If we assume they do well over the next 5 months (reasonable I think), you could get a pretty good kick. The Managed fund version delivered ~36% in 2015 during a tumultuous year. Could be a good play. Of course the shares in themselves are still probably a good bet, I just hate paying a premium in LICs.
