To me, the debt transfer says more about the banks themselves than AEJ.
It looks to me like Merrill's appetite for risk is expanding and where as CBA is still unwinding "imprudent" lending undertaken by BankWest prior to the takeover.
It is positive for AEJ that there are banks out there prepared to "step up to the plate".
