A welltest, whether a surface test through welltest equipment or a test through use of a DST string are the most common ways of determining skin damage, perm but basically the ability for a well to flow. From the flowing data, surface pressure, bottom hole pressure and rate an idea can be built of well performance and reservoir size. Running logs will only indicate if there is something there it will not tell you how much. This is the reason we need to test.
