Mr Whichchurch, it really is true that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, especially to your pocket. I have read a number of your posts, most of which have to do with low mudlog gas readings (apart from occasionally tending to the personal) together with a bit of bleating about the quality of data in the news releases. I was a bit concerned about the gas readings myself, and took the trouble to check up on what was observed at nearby commercial gas wells. If you were just a smidgen less condescending ("anyone with industry knowedge etc etc") and supercilious, you would know that the Patricia and Baleen wells are on open file for any one to check out. These wells, for the benefit of the less informed folks have been producing gas into the Orbost pipeline for some time now, so I guess some one thought they were commercial. And they are only a few kms away.
If you do indeed check out the open file data you will see that in the Baleen-1 well, the reservoir interval is from 660m to 707m, with porosities ranging from 30% to 25%. And it is further recorded that in the interval 665 to 745m, gas readings ranged from C1 375 to 13,222ppm, being 96% C1. The Patricia-1 well results are almost carbon copy. Reservoir depths are not dissimilar, and the formation is the same. Perhaps you do feel uncomfortable with the Moby readings, in which case you will also consider the Patricia Baleen results "very very weird" also, but tough mate, these are hooked up fields.
Better luck on the next call.
