That is some amazing tech in that TED talk. Goes to show what sort of toys the military must have! The potential to track deforestation, have insight into people movement and the like is very impressive.
Does anyone here have a technical grasp of the benefits of a point cloud 3d data version of something like this compared to generalised mapping. I'm aware that satellites don't obtain the same resolution as air craft for typical photographs so I doubt satellites can capture the point clouds but the comment by Pointerra lacks context for me.
Appreciate any thoughts.
