Really Valid what you're saying. I own LKO but i have a massive green hat. I was involved in politics heavily back home in the UK.

I sadly lived in Brighton which became a target seat for the greens, given the liberal attitudes in the city.
The party managed spend and waste money to the point where they wanted to spend $3million on having a referendum to raise the council tax. Yes, a ballot to the tax payers asking if they can raise taxes. I saw red, within 3months i got a vote of no confidence passed on the council.
I was advocating reducing corporate tax to 0% for green energy start ups as i believe that being green is being effectient and this has to be driven by business and more specifically technology.
At the same time with regards to resources, there needs to be real politics and a balanced approach to energy production, driving efficiencies and reducing peak demand through storage and other offline options.
To this extent, i want the world to transition to renewable energy as this will drive efficiencies on the way we live. This comes down to cost. Reality is that the price point for solar and renewables has tipped in other countries, but critically not through moretoriums, or mandates, but choice to consumers and customers and price.
For me it’s backward thinking to tax and increase the tax burden after austerity. No governments have and need to go the other way. This should go as far as energy. When the global economy starts heating up, so will consumption of energy. We saw prices for oil touch $130 a barrel and with a lack of supply of alternative energy sources, from wind, solar, through to Gas we’ll be in the same position again.
This is what the VIC government should be doing. Investing and bringing other sources of energy online, whilst as the same time encouraging green technology through reduced corporate taxation for companies with and incentivise capex investment and jobs through lower taxation.
For me it then comes down to the fact that the policies being pursued by greens and labour are socialist in ideology, rather than capitalist. However, i’ve seen the transition in the uk. The country now has the ability to run completely on renewable for a whole day and this happened for the first time ever last year and was the first time since the industrial revolution. This was done through a capitalist program and agenda.
What the VIC government is doing here lacks in vision, isn’t a strategy and isn’t cohesive.
Your prime minister is looking at other options for energy production and solar and so it’s clear there needs to be alignment with federal and state strategies.
