Contact lens are just one of many potential applications for the BOS compounds - just think of any object that is effected -ve by bacteria.

The contacts are actually being developed and may be the first product commericalised. I happen to wear contacts (not the reason why I follow BOS) - 6 pairs for 6 months wear usually costs $180 to $200 for the lot. Then add on contact lens cleaning fluids.

As a contact lenses wearer, I put up with a lot of irritation even after only a couple of days wear; and the constant cleaning is a pain in the a$$. So a product that can significantly reduce the irritation and even remove the need for cleaning would be great and no doubt be the product of choice for all contact lense wearers. The market is apparently huge (check previous years announcements for figures).

But contact lenses are just the tip of the iceberg. Medical devices and equipment is a potential monster, along with metal pipe coverings in the oil & gas industry.
