Greatly appreciate your feedback re investing / trading / CGT in SMSFs. Your comments confirm my understanding - the average length of stay for my stock is about 3 months, although some have been there since I established the fund in June 2007 & I do aim to keep them long term [I log the reasons for each trade in a spreadsheet established with my accountant's advice].

My accountant has advised that the annual audit will however cost more - consistent with having to process a greater number of trades. First audit greater due to setup & thereafter more dependent on how many trades are completed.

I might add I am aware of a very successful & well known trader who even operates cfds in his SMSF with apparent ATO sanction since it is profitable & I guess they like his donations to them.
