1030 was indeed the NFP as it is known, as paulbooma said earlier. 1130 (aest) is the open of US markets. But I have found that many currency pairs begin to move quite a bit earlier than that. Often pairs are starting to trend around 7 or 8pm and continue for a few hours. Volatility certainly increases at 11.30 though, usually.

And sheesh, talk about volatility on Friday night - haven't seen that much since high school chemistry.
