No doubt they will 'vigorously defend' themselves ... and use even more money they don't have to do so. Who would be buying this share? Insolvency risk is too real to ignore ...

AWB funded genocide: class action lawyers

By North America correspondent Kim Landers

A US lawyer says thousands of Iraqi families may join a class action against Australian wheat exporter AWB because of the kickbacks it paid which helped fund Saddam Hussein's regime.

The class action against AWB, its US office and a French bank has been filed by lawyers acting for two women whose husbands were killed by Hussein's regime.

Lawyer Lesley Murray says the case alleges AWB entered into a conspiracy to fund a Government which carried out genocide.

"AWB provided hard currency, illicitly, illegally, and that was the only way that the Saddam regime was ever going to get hard currency and sustain itself."

The two women have not specified how much compensation they are seeking.
