    Very funny - the really sad side to this is that it was a French or rather the Frenchified Nordics (William the conqueror) who invaded Britain, beat the British army and killed their king at Hastings and eventually built all those fortifications we now see as distinctly English - and began to rule over England, influenced the English language to such a degree that it lost many of its Saxon characteristics and became what we know as English now .
    Then, of course, it was years of war by the descendants of same conquerors who wanted to hold onto their former French possessions . . . . finishing with the slaughter and victory at Agincourt, immortalised by Shakespeare.
    It is a long and confused plot . . .
    as with all relatives, the bickering goes on
