This morning in The Australian newspaper; the Santos co-owned LNG plant in Gladstone buys 56% of it's gas needs from local market suppliers like AGL, instead of sourcing it from their own purpose-developed gas fields. According to the gas exporters the problem is the moratoria on onshore gas fields. In the media hardly any commentator talks about offshore gas tenements. It seems they don't exist. I would expect these gas exporters to scour the region, especially offshore (no moratoria) close to existing infrastructure, for possible fields to develop on short notice. But no, they simply lazily suck up local market supply and proclaim that there's nothing they can do about it all. We're here invested in TDO, quietly watching it, staring in disbelief at this bizarre situation....
