destra launches mobile UK digital music download service
destra and 3 UK deliver Unsigned mobile music experience
Melbourne, May 17th, 2006 – The MP3 music network, a division of
destra Corporation (ASX: DES), today signed a contract with Hutchison 3UK
Limited to launch a mobile, subscription-based digital music download service. The
new UK service went live today offering 3 UK mobile customers one of the world’s
largest digital music catalogues of independent and unsigned artists.
The UK music market offers outstanding commercial opportunities for destra. The UK is
currently the largest music market in Europe. Hutchison 3 UK currently has over three million
mobile subscribers who will be offered the subscription service free for the first month and then
subsequently at ,2 ($A5) per month.
Hutchison 3 UK will launch a new website (powered by the MP3 music network) to provide UK
based unsigned and emerging artists with the capability to upload their tracks directly to the
digital music download service. Giving these unsigned and emerging artists a potential audience
of over 3 million consumers.
