You know, what I like about this announcement re the deal with Woolworths, is its implications.
We get subjected to all the crap from these "No Holders" who have expert opinions on how YOW should do this, should do that.
The implication I refer to, is the situation with Kinder. Obviously Kinder is the Goliath, and YOW is the "David".
When YOW re-launched into Aust, Kinder must have spent a fortune trying to counter/blunt that relaunch, and must have spent a fortune promoting its stock in stores like Woolies.
I have posted several times that at my very busy local Woolies, that when YOW relaunched, Kinder did massive promotional displays in the aisles of Woolies, placing these stands in areas like the dairy section. I just about fell over the stands.
It must have cost a fortune.
But here we are, with YOW spending bugger-all and launching a new range into the very same Woolies stores, using existing distributors.
The kicker for me is that we learnt the other day that Kinder has relaunched in US with Kinder Joy. They have placed stock in special promotional positions in Walmart, and knocked sales of Yowies.
But YOW stated that they believe that this promotional phase of Kinder Joy will be short term.
I believe them now.
Because here we have Kinder flooding Woolies with stock and promotion, yet here is Yowie moving right in on what was Kinder's territory - and at bugger-all cost.
it is just a shame that the new bottom-feeders will get the benefit.
Maybe this is the turn-around?
