That's funny. Religious dogma has no place in the reality of mining.

Vanadium is extracted from the residue of coal after its been used as part of the coking process. I've personally managed laboratories which test the stuff and I can assure you that in many cases the slag contains more than 0.1% Vanadium. It looks like it could be more cost effective and environmentally friendly to use coal based Vanadium than it is to mine the Vanadium that's mentioned in this announcement.

The in ground grade is very important when mining for Vanadium. The Queensland oil shales look to be better than this deposit... they may even get some extra credits for extracting and burning the oil while chasing the Vanadium.
