Well, Chengtun really got NZC by the balls this time. NZC was going broke with no fully funded DMS Plant in sight, and it in itself not being a big material enough resource to attract majors like Glencore.
That $5million term-sheet NZC signed for debt funding really reeked of desperation to be honest. And they were still, not anywhere close to production. It was only a matter of time before some "well funded" vulture (Chengtun) decided to snap up this asset for itself on the cheap to secure supply feed 10 years out.
Remember, the cunning Chinese think long term! 10-15 years! What better time now to lock up assets like NZC on the cheap. Especially with Huayou and Chengtun ganging up together to coerce the board of NZC to accept the deal Yes the Chinese have many tricks up their sleeve.
I'm actually glad Jason is at least giving more consideration to the Europeans for offtakes.
