FYI..........The plant was put on care and maintenance because they were unable to secure a long term and consistent ore supply to the plant. Grades were all over the place, many impurities too and insufficient feed was secured.
As such, operating below capacity and without having a consistent feed, the operating costs and operating inputs………acid, reagents etc were not optimised.
The ability to secure feed was an issue as the Chinese were able to lock down all the alternative sources of feed and promised better terms, which have proven not to be the case with long payment terms and below market prices.
Therefore the plant could not continue to operate under such circumstances with relatively high fixed costs for a well below capacity operating plant.
IMO, these issues will not pertain with WFE
