If the drilling stops/slows down, CXO are dead in the water. Continual booking of assets is needed for survival in what is proving to be a highly competitive commodity. 5 cents a share capital raise won't mean much if the drilling brings it up >10MT resource, with larger contingent resources in one pit.
Compartmentalised deposits won't get mined.
Then again, I have seen many a good orebody ruined by drilling programs.
