Most newbie operators pegged ground in the Galilee mid of last decade, hoping that it would turn out 2b the nxt big thing like Surat or Denison/Bowen, which it clearly isn't.
The coal quality from the BCB (Betts creek bed) is crap (very high ash, low rank). The coal exists between 800-1300m depth & is yet to flow at commercially sustainable flowrates.
The myth behind a Galilee CSG started in the mid-90's when Enron drilled a particular hole 'Rodney Creek' which had some gas saturation.
Plans to develop this by AGL : GLL JV didn't quite work out (read their 3rd march release abt Glenaras). Before this, the JV between CNOOC & Exoma didn't quite get what they were after. So u'll get operators booking a resource (3P or 2C), but its the flwrates that generate cashflow for any CSG operator. Those mining the BCB coal will b exporting it.
