One thing that hasn't been given enough credit is the simplicity of open pit rather then underground. I'm looking at other major Cu projects and note they are going to be much tougher. Even OZL's Carapateena has been hiring block cavers from all over Oz. In comparison we have a relatively simplistic logistics excavate/ truck operation to optimise. The iron ore giants like BHP and RIO have gotten very rich over it.
To start with were're going to avoid some problems like people potentially being stuck in a cave or how to get oxygen plus seismicity (rockfalls from UG quakes). I think we are half to 1 magnitude safer/easier from OP versus UG. I'm not excluding pit wall slips but then again were relatively shallow too.
