lyc was a subject of takeover before by the Chinese many years back and fib didn’t approved on national interest ground but there are ways around it if Japanese want to secure the resource, they can partner with a local company and make a bid backing them financially etc...
but that could also be the Chinese having a total monopoly by owning lyc and it not good for anyone including Australia that why it got rejected the Jap may have a better chance
