The thing you are missing is that we already use current generation flash widely, despite it's apparent, on-paper data-retention characteristics being kind of terrible. Despite a one year at room temperature data retention figure (and according to some data, mere weeks at higher temperatures), your phone does not end up corrupted in your pocket. 10 years at room temperature is a figure that has a different meaning to what you are thinking it does. It is considered perfectly workable for real-world applications like people's phones, tablets, PCs - but it might not be good for archival storage that's just going to sit, powered off, for decades.
The other big error in what you write is that weebit is not looking at replacing flash. Go look at their web page. The whole mission statement is centred around the replacement of flash. Quoting that page: "They have demonstrated a working ReRAM SiOx device that outperforms Flash in every parameter." That includes guess what? Data retention. It's already better than flash.
