You misinterpret my words. Strong management is not about being an Ahole and ruthless is not about being crule or savage. Strong management ask the hard question and make the hard decisions. I use the term ruthless, maybe a little flippantly, meaning always chasing the target, never sitting still, always looking to do better. These things can all be done over dinner, golf, meetings, attending conferences, building contacts and friendships through regular contact and so on. No hard a required. BUT when hard a is required strong management can bring that side of business as well. Previous management appeared very passive. A large list of contacts was made but maybe they were too trusting, maybe never pushing the IOR agenda.

Once you have the contracts then what, you use then to gain what you want. The old who you know argument. These friends open doors so you can step through them.
