It may be the norm, I am not disputing that, but that doesn't make the process right.
If the ASX releases an announcement saying that the stock is in a trading halt until the market opens, then it should come out of a trading halt when the market opens. That's it. End of story. No exceptions.
If the ASX can't process requests in time, it should put in an earlier deadline than that that currently exists for requests - but that's a separate matter entirely.
