looking at the panned gold there are a couple of shiny, smooth, black/brown pisolites. these suggest that this is an alluvial sample, and as demonstrated these can carry extremely high grade gold and quartz.
in the plan view there are a couple of results surrounding this with lower grades, but still at about the same level - roughly horizontal, again suggesting alluvial or perhaps supergene mineralisation.
the above two observations may explain why the deeper hole did not hit any mineralisation - or the interp of the dip of the structure is wrong?
upside? excellent grade material not far from the surface, and close to the existing resources and plant, with the bonus of easy (free?) digging to get to it. this find could add good ozs to the project.
