It wasn't a buyback but rather a cancellation of escrowed vendor stock from memory. No consideration.
Basically when the deal was originally done to the time it actually relisted and had commenced trading there was an acknowledgement that the stock issued was in excess of what was reasonable. Vendors and brokers agreed to take a reduction and cancel stock.
A great outcome for the retail end holders.
