If Magnis/IM3 manages to get some or all of the planned battery cell manufacturing plants up and running then a guaranteed supply of graphite that the company controls is a great idea. Excess jumbo and Super jumbo flake sizes can be sold on for additional profit.
A lot of things need to work out to achieve this though.
