"How can they compete pricewise" - Try researching C4V battery composition Straight from their home page:
"Our unique materials technology reduces the cost of batteries significantly... Our high power and energy density batteries do not employ the use of cobalt, instead use higher voltage composite material in combination with other abundant raw materials and thus greatly reduce costs, while relying on a less volatile supply chain."(1)
Is plenty of info out there if you care to look.
As for 'why the SP is retracing', its currently a Terms Sheet, money is not in the bank yet! However, bonds are usually very straight forward (especially pre issued), and after 8 weeks of DD, I think the chance of something unexpected coming up is rather low.
50 days to have the lawyers finalise T&C's etc. - takes us to the first week of May... what do you think the SP will be when $30m is in the bank, with another $22m arriving when convenient for IM3???
Next gen, low cost battery cells being produced by May next year... that's cash flow to support expansion? And with Magnis having total ownership of 47%, take your guess on what the SP will be then??
I would expect the SP to creep up in the second half of April as some buy in expectation of NY cash hitting the bank account.
