What an increase
On 1 May 2012, the Joint Venture announced a preliminary sulfate of potash resource of 530,000 tonnes based on a depth of only 3 m. This preliminary resource has now been upgraded to a maximum inferred resource of 5,500,000 tonnes of sulfate of potash at an average aquifer thickness of 15 m and an average depth to the water table of 1 m. This equates to a maximum schoenite (potassium magnesium sulfate) resource of 13,000,000 tonnes. This increase is due to the greater thickness of the resource and also the inclusion of an additional four lakes in the area considered for the resource.
