Vert if you do enough reading it will surprise you. Even the great charter towers goldfield I have read ( and don,t quote me to find it as was an article I stumbled across while working out why CTO performed so poorly, and have never found it again.) required grade of 2 ounces to the ton to make profits due to the pod nature of the deposit. There is a private mine in Payne’s find that the owner says grades 2 ounces to the ton on hand sorted ore but the majors over here won’t touch it because it is only 10. - 20 cm thick and wont make payable grade when diluted to minimum mining widths and development costs. It’s not the same world now as a hundred years ago where mining deaths were common , ore was hand sorted cause labour was cheap , tailing could be disposed of wherever you like. Morning star may have closed many years earlier if they couldn’t,t dump there tailings in the river and had to dispose of it properly. Even Medusa mining in the Philippines struggled on exceptional grade ( haven’t followed it for years now so don,t know how it’s performing at the moment.) with low labour costs . SLR made some money out of daisy milano on 8 gram dirt but that was diluted grade for the mining width. But often had poor quarters when the grade slipped to 6. Tanimi gold used to have some great drill hits but only ever managed grades around 5 grams and eventually shut. So for on narrow vein I recon you will need 7 grams diluted on a consistent basis to make money if you have consistent veins to follow . Poddy unreliable and hard to mine deposits ( shoot me down in flames ) will imo require grades in excess of an ounce to the ton to make it work on a long term basis. A lot less if you you can source good tonnage .
