Me’ekamui reaffirms unification: Pipiro
THE Me'ekamui hierarchy in Panguna have officially invited the new player in the mining industry, Jeffery McGIinn of Caballus Mining to visit Panguna to formally present his proposal for mining in Bougainville."There has been a lot of discussions and support on the ground for Mr McGlinn and his 60/40 concept.I have heard about Jeff both professionally and personally so I very much look forward to meeting him and getting to know him," the faction's leader, Moses Pipiro said.Mr Pipiro said he is in full support of the Autonomous Bougainville Government's proposed amendments to the Bougainville Mining Act and will support and endorse any investor or partner that the ABG recommends. In a statement, the Me'ekamui faction has reaffirmed its commitment to value and respect the current relationship with ABG.The faction will remain focused on preparing and implementing programs to realign the Me'ekamui with the ABG."It is time for all Bougainvilleans to unite and support our president Dr John Momis, our leaders from the ABG. We fought a revolution against oppression and so our dreams of independence must be realised.""I look forward to the future where the ABG the Me'ekamui, the ex-combatants and landowners will work together for a united and prosperous Bougainville" he said. Meanwhile Mr Pipiro has publicly apologised to the people and government of Bougainville for signing his name with Philip Miriori and Lawrence Daveona in a paid advertisement titled, "Bougainville's ability to secure much needed funding will be destroyed by Caballus" issued by special mining lease Osikaiang Landowners Association on the 7 March this year. "I take full responsibility for my mistake and would like to apologise if my involvement with that press release has caused people to be unsupportive or doubtful of our leaders or have misconceptions about Caballus and Jeff McGlinn. I do not in any way agree with, or endorse the false statements made in that press release, and was completely misled by RTG Mining Inc (RTG) supporters into signing that press release,"Pipiro said.
