Someone should tell Vesey that Australia is not like America and that being left wing may not help him in Australia especially in relation to the Federal Government. See FXJ article excerpt below:

While the Turnbull government has used last week's SA power outage to question the reliability of renewables, the industry itself is dismissing such doubts. Distributed renewable energy generated and consumed at the local levelhas the potential to strengthen the electricity grid, not weaken it, AGL Energy CEO Andy Vesey said. "If it was all rooftop solars and batteries it's generation at point (of consumption). That's a very reliable system and it can only get there with renewables and distributed resources," Vesey said. He told the All Energy conference in Melbourne that politicians were blaming the South Australian blackout on renewable energy because technological disruption was confounding their "mental models".
"If someone wants to say that renewables drive a lack of reliability in the system I will tell you that if you have a system that is all distributed and ... generated at the point of consumption and stored and you didn't have much transmission lines you'd have a much more secure system," he said.
"We have to recognise this isn't a question of politics per se, it's a question of disruption. It happens any time you fundamentally change the dominant technology and things go wrong."
