Given Talisman want to sell there Kaybob Duvernay and come down a play with us, this is evven more significant bit of breaking news.
US major Chevron has increased its landholdings in the Duvernay wet shale gas play in Alberta, Canada through a new sales deal.
The company said on Thursday its subsidiary Chevron Canada signed an agreement to acquire all Duvernay interests from Alta Energy Luxembourg and its affiliates. The acquired acreage covers about 275 square kilometres in west-central Alberta.
Chevron did not disclose the purchase price of the acquisition.
Chevron Canada has more than 1000 square kilometres of existing acreage in the Duvernay. In 2011, it started a multi-well exploration programme on these wholly-owned and operated leases, achieving initial production last year.
“To date, we have been encouraged by the reservoir data and production performance from our exploration drilling programme on our Kaybob Duvernay leases,” Chevron Canada president Jeff Lehrmann said in a statement.
“We are pleased to add to our acreage in this play as we advance our programme to evaluate the potential for full-field commercial development,” he said.
