I just had a good read through the judgement from the expropriation case (should have done this early) and the Judge mentions several times that it's the state who has the final say on mining licenses and it doesn't matter whether you have previous held the license or not the state has all the power, especially after the 2004 MPRDA act.
You'd think this outcome would seriously dampen Anglo's case for any compensation or rights to the license. No matter how much money and politicians they have on side it'd be hard to win the Rooderand License from Alta after a judge has given this verdict on expropriation. Saying that a judge can spin a judgment any way he wants...........
